A unique experience with lustreware ceramics

In Arturo Mora 's workshop, you'll discover Manises' ceramic tradition firsthand. Accompanied by the ceramist himself, you'll learn about its history, see unique works, and experience the magic of the lustreware in its place of origin.

The metallic reflection collection

In our permanent exhibition, you can see more than one hundred pieces of metallic luster, crafted on the wheel, painted freehand, and fired in a third reduction firing.

The sample includes:

Reproductions of medieval pieces (14th–16th centuries) inspired by works preserved in museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York , the Victoria & Albert Museum in London or the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg .
Original pieces from the Mora family saga from the late 19th century.
Works by international ceramists who also work with the metallic reflection technique.

Craft demonstration

During the visit, you'll enjoy a demonstration of the lathe and the hand-painting process, watching how a piece comes to life with the ancient technique of lustreware.

The wood-fired oven

You will be able to see the only wood-fired, metallic-glaze kiln that exists in Manises, built in the workshop itself as part of a research project and still in operation.

Live the experience

You'll also be able to participate in a small hands-on workshop: you'll decorate your own bowl or escudella under the supervision of the artisan. A unique way to take home not only a piece, but also a personal experience.
