Arturo Mora's workshop

Tradition and creation in the heart of Manises

Arturo Mora 's workshop, located in Manises, is much more than a workspace: it is the place where a ceramic tradition of more than fourteen generations remains alive and constantly evolving.

In this workshop, inherited tools—a potter's wheel and a wood-fired kiln—come together with a contemporary approach that breathes new life into the shimmering metallic pottery. Each piece is patiently shaped, freehand painted, and then undergoes a delicate third reduction firing , a process that requires precision and experience to achieve the characteristic golden and copper gleams.

In addition to reproducing historical works held in museums around the world, Arturo creates his own designs that update tradition, exploring new forms and decorations. Thus, the workshop is both a space of memory and innovation , where medieval art interacts with contemporary artistic language.

Research and Collaborations

Arturo Mora's workshop is also a research space. In collaboration with the Manises Ceramics Museum and European universities, an experimental wood-fired kiln was built, still in operation, which faithfully reproduces the ancient firing processes of gilded earthenware. This project allowed for the recovery of historical techniques and the documentation of the process in the video "The Metallic Reflection of Manises."
