Swallows for hanging

Hanging ceramic swallows were very popular between 1950 and 1970, a period in which it was common to see groups of these evocative birds on the walls of balconies and patios of houses, produced in various factories in Manises. One of the best-documented is that of Rafael Garcerá Calatrava, manufactures that managed to convey, using basic ceramic techniques and only the colors black and white, the essence of one of the migratory birds most appreciated for the benefits they provide to humanity and for being the recurring natural marker of the beginning of spring.

The popular post-romantic movement, present in those years, also contributed to the good acceptance of this type of ceramic piece, which was favored by the numerous editions that were published in the second third of the 20th century of Bécquer's Rimas , one of which—perhaps the most famous—continues to be: The dark swallows will return…

Now, in 2025, Arturo Mora has decided to go beyond the traditional black and white and create a new series of three types of hanging swallows in gold luster, made in different shades using the lustreware technique, the best specialty of his workshop.
